I had a fucker at work once who would steal my lunch and water every damn day. What did I do about it? Good timing is everything. I had a really bad flue at the time. A real walking dead flue. So I go home and drank enough beer till my pee came out clear. Then I took a half empty btl of water and filled it back up. Get it? The fucker stole my btl of water again. Hahaha. I had an idea who it was at the time so after work was over I told him "Yeah, that cock sucker stole my lunch again today." And then told him what I had done to get even. The prick turned green. I didn't see him on the job for over a week after that, and when he did come back he had the same damn flue I had. Hahaha!

Some Progress on the 70 Ironhead yesterday.

I started out by pulling the clutch basket off the 79 so I could steal a few parts for the 70.

Been more than four years since I had seen the back side of this basket. Proud of the nice way my riveting of the kicker basket gear came out. What a fucking pain in the ass that was! They make a special tool that makes it easy to do. For me it took all damn afternoon. About thirty strikes per rivet and had to reset and recenter everything for each blow.

I don't like this one Chinese part. Just stamped crap. I'll always from now on if I'm going to go threw all the effort to do the rivets use a new old factory part.

The gear I took off the 79 to use on the 70s Basket Main Shaft. It has a little bit more play to it than I would like there to be resting on the factory spacer. I'll probably bust my fucking knee cuz of it. Also, this factory gear on the end of the kicker shaft is not as good as the Chinese part in my opinion. It sets up the kick stroke from about 10:30 to 4:30. The Chinese one sets it up for 12:00 to 6:00. The one part from the Chinese kit I will be using again in the future. Would seem that the 12-6 kicking cycle would be less prone to over extending your knee and causing the dreaded Sportster Knee ya hear so damn much about. I'm just going to leave this factory one on the 70 and the Chinese knock off on the 79 for now. I'll see and compare after they are both running.

I now have three Sportsters apart in my garage. Damn shame more parts don't interchange. For the record, the only part that is not interchangeable in the kicker assy is the fucking spacer! I could of saved about $80 bucks if I didn't listen to some of the advice I got from a certain forum I will no longer be contributing to. Fucking self proclaimed experts and internet tough guy / cry baby's.

I got better advice on fucking Facebook from some friends of mine!

This was a good post back when it first appeared here on Blue Collar Moto. For this reposting I have added captions from memory to some of the pix. This was truly a good time. Back in the good old days before bike politics interfered with my perspective and Slim was still touring the party circuit. Back then Street Chopper was only putting two copies out a year. This was the winter Party. I'll be posting more from this party over the next five days or so.

Eddie Hernandez rode in with the "Pink Taco" creator Duane Ballard. I think Kutty also rode in with them as a group on the "Plumb Smuggler." This was also a first showing of the two bikes before they hit all the shows together and all the magazine articles.

I miss seeing Slim at all the parties.

And make sure you attend the next Street Chopper release! Douche LaRouche and Street Chopper have joined up to throw a great little shindig in LA this time!

Today started off with a pretty good hangover while still stuck half in a bad dream I was having when I woke up. One of those "What did I say to people last night" lets do some damage control feeling sort of mornings. I was on a board talking about what I good time I had last night with the BBQ and the vodka and how I still had a fair amount of vodka still coursing threw my veins when someone replied by mentioning Paris Hilton. I think the idea was to test me to see just how hung over I was by seeing if the mention of the name would make me barf or not. Well, I didn't barf so I'm guessing I wasn't as hung over as I thought I was at the time. It did get me to dig up these old pix though. And another member contributed the video to help frame my mood for the rest of the day. Going to be laughing all the way till bed time no matter what else happens today.

Back in 07 or 08 I think when I first saw this pic I posted it up on the old Blue Collar Moto blog wondering who in their right minds would let them sit on their bikes. And what a time they would of had cleaning the cooties off the seats afterwards. The proper response to either one of the spawn of Satan sitting on one of my bikes would be a proper "Get the fuck off that" followed by a pimp daddy bitch slap. But this just gets better and better! If you have not yet seen the video your in for a treat! Who ever's bikes these were, they actually let them try and ride them. Oh my god is the result of such careless thinking funny! Almost cartoonishly funny!

Hell yeah!

Went down to the Hole in the wall Mexican market today to pick up some of the chorizo I love so much and saw the marinaded asada sitting there. 2lb of chorizo and 1 1/2 lb of asada PLEASE! Yummy kicking it out on the patio with the pets in this awful damn cold Cali winter in my t-shirt with a cocktail. Thought I would die last week if I didn't get some sort of steak going on this week. Taco Thursday topped off with some fresh home made Salsa Mexicana.

$15 to feed 4 and I have not even got to the Chorizo yet! And the salza will be twice as good tomorrow after all the flavors have had a chance to marry in the frige over night for the chorizo.

You may get a chance to try some of this chorizo that I love if ya come out to the Johnson Valley Van-In Shoot-Out Run next May. So far there are 50 saying they are going, and another 50 who say they may go. I'm gonna buy as much of it and cook it all up the night before for Sunday breakfast out on the range. Don't think I'll be able to do much more than 20lb of the stuff though so it will be first come, first served till it all runs out for free.

Damn if this gear don't only come in a $90 kit with all the other shit I already have. Sucks! I have the correct spacer that it rides on so tomorrow I'll see if the one on my 79 will work. Can't find any specs just for the damn gear. Just for the fucking spacer.

Got the kicker installed with the new old cover and the Kicker arm I picked up at the Long Beach Swap last Sunday. Turns out the one I got was bent probably from the bike being layed down. I had to dig threw a ton of crap to find the one from the 79s kit in the garage. It just clears the exhaust.

Don't know if I'm gonna use this gear or not. Gonna check the one on the 79 to see where the kicker stops during the kick cycle. The factory one seems to go a little farther than I would like. Damn Sportster knee. If the aftermarket one shortens the swing a little I may take this back apart and use the new one. Could it be that someone somewhere made a better part than the Motor company? Shit, even if it's made in China, if it works better it's the one I'm going with. Don't have much cartilage to play around with in my knees anymore.

Hard to believe I was ever this young, or that the liquor stores would sell me three kegs of beer every Friday and Saturday night back then. I'm thinking I must of been 17 in this pic. That's me on the left. Up front and more or less center is my buddy Glen Schmidt. Six kegs every weekend till I turned 18 and stopped cuz I didn't want to get hassled by the man. As a minor ya don't worry about serving other minors beer. $5 per cup with free refills all night long. Those were good times out in the woods!

Johnson Valley Van-In Shoot-Out Run!

Were meeting up at 2402 Mill Creek Rd Mentone, CA 92359 Greenspot Market and Liquor. Great Jerky! Gas up b4 ya get there. There is a Arco just before the market. We will be taking off from here at 10:00AM sharp. Then riding over Big Bear and down into the high desert. We will be picking up fire wood and supplies in Lucerne and gassing up before the last stretch.

We won't be stopping in Big Bear. If you have never taken the 38 up into Big Bear you will like it! Those of you who have already know what I'm talking about.

The hills in the foreground are where we are camping. On the back side. This is what they will look like from the 247 just before ya get to the mining road.

If ya want to go but don't want to go on the ride ya can meet us up at the range, but the trails will not get marked till I get there with the group. These stacked white rocks are the markers for the mining road where ya turn right off of the 247. This road is 12.6 ml east on the 247 from the city of Lucerne.

Go down the mining road 1.8 ml till ya see this trail post and turn right. I will stack some tires and put up some yellow tape to mark it better once we get there. There was an old tire just out of this pic to the right. I can't grantee it will still be there next May so look for the trail post. These trails are real nice. Don't need a dirt bike or 4x4 to get down them.

Pic was taken while leaving so you are looking at the direction you will be coming from.

You can see on the map that ya turn left heading between the two hills (south) and then right (west) at the Y in the road. These two turns are just a stones toss from one another. Turn right at the Y onto trail 4209. The camping spot and shooting range will be on the right about a half mile down this trail. The only real turn off to the right there is leading up into a canyon. That's the spot! The map does not recognize the last right hand turn. It stops at the spot where ya make the last turn.

Plenty of room but depending on how many people show up there is another spot less than 100yds away for any overflow if it should happen.

Really the only rules other than if ya have a fire it needs to be in a rock ring will be on the firing range. Let's not ruin a good time by putting a cap in someones ass by mistake!

The shooting area will be taped off for every ones safety. Nobody will be allowed past the tape at the firing line except to pick up and set up targets and only then when all the guns are sitting on the table. No horse play! I take this very seriously!

Everyone will be expected to be their own range officers and mind their Ps and Qs when at the firing range. If anyone is acting like an ass they will be asked to leave or at least put their guns away. Think safety.

Most of these will not be going. If what your shooting even looks like something illegal it may just be better to leave it at home. I think Ca still has a ten round max on clips and for SKS rifles ya need to have the fixed clip in place. No detachable. May of changed but that's how it was not long ago.

When it's just me and a few friends my rule has always been to keep everything loaded at all times so there is no confusion about if it is or not. I'm thinking with a large group it would be better to have everything unloaded when not on the firing line and with semi auto's to have the slide locked in the open inspection position unless holstered. No fuck ups! I don't want anyone getting hurt or to leave with real bullet holes in their rides! We need some tables to set stuff on. I'm gonna borrow one fold up table from my neighbor for loading and a place to set your guns at the firing line. There will be some sort of reasonable limit set to how many will be able to be shooting at any one time before it gets crazy. We will play that one by ear. Would be fucking great to get a shot of everyone who brought a gun in line firing them off at the count of three.

Plenty of room for tent camping. We will have to play it by ear depending on how many show up how we will set up.

Up in those hills I showed you in the pix from the 247.

Looking down on the 247 and Johnson Valley OHV area and the dry lake bed.

This is a great little area I found about fifteen years ago while tooling around the desert in my old Chevy 4x4. In the summer it's just two damn hot to go there. Spring and fall are great for camping and shooting. Far enough off the pavement and behind those hills leaves ya feeling like the world got left behind.

Also we are going to try and recreate the opening scene in the movie "Hard Ride" on the dry lake bed. We need bikes to do this. It would be cool to only have vintage choppers for the shoot but all are welcome. How cool would it be to do the same shot with the Van's as well! Riding side by side across the open dry lake bed. Going to be doing this every year from now on.

Also this is a great area to bring your dirt bikes and quads! The Johnson Valley is a world class OHV area complete with sand dunes, dry lake beds, hills, and the world famous Hammer Trails!

This is not an event but rather a grass roots ride and camping trip. No vendors, no sponsors, 100% FREE party the way it used to be!

BYOB and Food!

There are restaurants in Lacern if ya don't want to bother with packing in food.

There will be no facilities. BYOTP!

Also, if you are planning on bringing a firearm please make it a legal one in Ca! We have a great little shooting range set up for the weekend and don't want to be getting shut down by any authorities. Like I said, this is not an official event but rather just a bunch of us getting together for a ride out to the desert to have some fun and camp out.

I was feeling a little down about the gorilla fucking the football look I was sporting in this pic till last night. Watched Hell's Bloody Devils again. I had forgotten that the leader of the motorcycle gang was the only one riding a little Honda 350. Hell not even a 360 Scrambler!

Must of gone into a commercial dialogue and got cut out of the pic or something.

All in all a good enough movie to watch but the bikes and bikers were just added in to fill space. Some good memories with my grams at Marine Land in there as well from when I was a little kid.

If anybody knows the reason for this choice in the leaders bike pipe up with a comment please. Was it a Fonze sort of thing?

I found another great spot up on a hill so the oncoming traffic wouldn't get in the pix in front of the vans. I waited about 45 minutes and had to climb down and find the group. Here I'm up on a hill waiting for the vans to show up again. After about fifteen minutes of waiting a cop came by giving me shitty looks for parking where I was and turned his lights on. So I climbed down off the hill and was going to find another spot to take pix with out the cops when they showed up. That's tomorrow.

I really enjoyed having the bike set up like this last summer. Now even though I'm on the verge of getting the Ironhead starting reliably, I'm really missing riding my old Sportster every day. This has been my every day work horse for almost fifteen years now. Have had a lot of good times on her. And bad. I really need to get those damn gears so I can ride her again!

Every day trips to the grocery store.

Yes! The factory bushing is there behind the case plug. The stop post is there as well.

The brand new factory clutch kicker gear is there installed by the factory back in 1970 when they knew what they were doing. New cuz this bike has never had a kicker on it before.

My home made compensating sprocket tool.

Found a stash of parts to use.

Gotta make a mess to get things done.

Just about another $50 - $60 in parts and the kicker will be ready to go along with a new Bendix that should get the starter problems fixed as well. I want to ride this to the Love Cycles Party next month!

In the 90s and into the 21st century we have seen the fat tire super molded high horsepower abortion craze come to it's height of evolution. The TV craze and the sudden respectability brought on by the credit card crowd with their HD brand due rags, hot pants and chaps has had one major influence on the molding of motorcycles. I call it the Full Monty of ugliness. Today when most new bees think of a molded bike, the pic in their heads is nothing at all like what the small percentage of us, "the 10%" of us in the motorcycle demographic who make up the vintage bike scene think of.

I recently came across a post on "The Jockey Journal" on molded bikes. I had a lot of stuff to do that day but could not pull myself away from reading the posts on this thread. I don't ever post about links on chopper boards here on the blog but this one blew me away. Contributions were made by people from AEE, and Denver's (Berdoo) as well as the pix I was fortunate enough to contribute from my new friend Andy Anderson.

Check out the thread "The Molded Years" and if ya have anything to contribute please do so.

Okay, pass this along to your Homie's and Bro's and anyone else you want to invite. There's some locals that I don't have an email address for... Jason, Mike Torres, etc. etc. We're meeting at the Gasser Lounge at 4:30 pm for a shoot of octane and roll out to the Victory Electric Tattoo party (Mikey's going to open a tad early on our behalf! Yeah). We'll take a "Wuss" consensus when we get there on what route we could take;

The party is at: 11390 Ventura Blvd Studio City, CA 91604 from 6PM to 10PM

a.) 405 N. to the 101 E., which I think sucks.

b.) Streets to La Cienega N., to Fairfax N., to Laurel Canyon N., and we'll drop down on top of the party, but riding through Fairfax can be suck ass.

c.) Streets up to Santa Monica Blvd. (queer alley?) E., to Coldwater Canyon N., over the hill and we're almost there. -or-

d.) Shoot the 105 E., 110 Harbor Fwy N., straight through downtown (pretty lights and smelling of pee pee) and then the Hollywood Fwy N., and we're there.

Any of these routes has it's advantages or disadvantages. Freeways will be faster but most of you are going to speed through red lights anyway, so if we get lost you know where were going...

Easyriders Show part 2

Pix of most of the bikes from the show other than the the ones at the DLMC display.

It only took me about fifteen minutes to cover the all the bikes I liked or thought interesting at the show. Out of that about ten minutes was spent waiting for retards who stop and block the walk way to eat a bugger off their little finger. I didn't even bother trying to take any detailed pix of these bikes cuz of the chain on the display. Some cool stuff. If I ever see any of them out on the road I'll get some real shots with close ups. I know at least the long bike from Vegas gets ridden and is not just a show queen.

Yep. I knew what to expect. I went anyway. Was good hanging out with my friends DLMC booth. There were a few bikes besides theirs worth checking out. Not any that get ridden. Just show bikes. Not my thing but I figured I would try it out anyway. There was plenty of wet Harley Davidson brand name hot pants at the SOA set up getting autographs hahaha. Oh yeah, Mary got to get her pic taken with Machete, bartender from Dusk Till Dawn, "El Tortuga" from Breaking Bad actor Danny Trejo. That made it all worth it for her. That and getting a DLMC t shirt.

$13 to park a fucking motorcycle. Damn! No, I'm not entering the bike into the show lady!

Only bike I saw in the lot while waiting for Mary to fix her makeup worth taking a pic of. I didn't go wading around threw the sea of baggers though. I'm sure there were two or three other bikes that would give me wood in there some place.

Really nice shovel! I would ride the piss out of it if it were mine!

After the anal probe pass threw security and finally getting in to the show (hour and a half later) it was nice to see some familiar faces.

All the other bikes at the show besides the DLMC tomorrow.
